Victoria’s Secret shareholders greeted by protestors at annual meeting this morning, Monday May 16th, 2005

Outside the meeting shareholders were greeted by a lively rally of 30 protesters organized by ForestEthics, the Buckeye Forest Council, and Ohio State Free the Planet!, and attended by activists from across the Midwest. Dozens of demonstrators held signs, giant puppets, chainsaw props, and a banner that read, “Victoria’s Dirty Secret: Forest Destruction” outside of the Limited Brands headquarters in Columbus, OH.

Todd Paglia, Executive Director of ForestEthics, represented the campaign inside at the shareholder meeting, where he addressed the executives and shareholders with a bold challenge to change their corporate policies and protect Endangered Forests.

Rebecca Reeves, representing a local coalition and Alberta conservation groups active in Alberta’s Foothills, came all the way to Columbus and spoke at the annual shareholders meeting. She explained the effects of the logging occurring in the Endangered Forests of the Alberta foothills in the Canadian Boreal for in the Victoria’s Secret Catalog and encouraged the Limited to take action now.

Victoria’s Secret is feeling the pressure from all of your efforts. And the effort is only getting bigger the more people hear about Victoria’s Secret destruction of forests and the campaign to stop them. Over the next several months there will continue to opportunities to continue to deliver the message to stop the destruction.
