Victoria’s Secret hometown subject to 30-foot “Light Mural” to expose forest destruction

Over the weekend, ForestEthics and local activists hit the streets in downtown Columbus, Ohio, hometown of Victoria’s Secret, and projected a 30-foot tall ‘Light Mural’ exposing the company’s devastating environmental practices. The light mural, which was projected at the Wexner Center for the Arts and multiple busy locations downtown., was approximately 30 feet high and included visuals of models holding chainsaws, forests that have been destroyed to make things like paper, and text saying “Victoria has a dirty secret: forest destruction.” The action was part of the national campaign to expose the company’s devastating environmental practices. At issue are the million catalogs that the company mails daily on paper that comes mainly from forests, rather than recycled content. Activists distributed cards challenging CEO Les Wexner to protect Endangered Forests and directing them to take action at www.victoriasdirtysecret.net underneath the projection.
